  • Overview

    The Technical Transition Manager supports the discovery, due diligence activities and orchestration planning for the managed service portfolio. We are seeking a high caliber individual to serve in a client engagement role to understand client technical environments and design appropriate solutions within HBR Managed Services portfolio.


    • Responsible for planning and overseeing the transfer of key information necessary for the technical delivery, support and operation of IT managed services.
    • Engage with client IT stakeholders to gain an understanding of current state technology environment, technology roadmap needs and technical support services.
    • Lead information gathering efforts to determine current state model, technology strategy and supporting technology platform needs for IT managed service portfolio.
    • Lead technical due diligence activities including but not limited to data center infrastructure, cloud services, enterprise systems, monitoring, security, IT assets, networking, user computing environments, and operational management processes.
    • Assess client technology and operational investments with respective NextGen reference design architecture and operating models.
    • Develop IT transition documentation for service blueprints to facilitate design inputs of NextGen platforms, client onboarding and technical migration to managed services.
    • Develop necessary deliverables to validate service scope and facilitate program level migration plans, technical architecture development and asset procurement coordination with respective delivery teams for operational readiness and delivery checklists.
    • Serve as a liaison to orchestrate activities with the PMO and integration with technical engineering, desktop services and NOC/SOC operations.
    • Work with lead project managers to establish the project plan, communication schedule, activity timeline and transition approach.
    • Contribute to business case and pre-sales efforts with a focus on client current state environments, resource planning, cost estimates, and timeline of activities.
    • Work with leadership to develop internal reference design frameworks, implement operational processes and technology that support value creation and process efficiency across functions.


    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant business field is required.
    • Microsoft, networking, data center and compute/storage certification a plus.
    • Minimum of 4 years of consulting and/or client engagement role is required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of enterprise technology industry experience is required.
    • Work experience in a professional services industry preferred. Legal industry experience a plus.
    • Subject matter knowledge across critical components of IT (e.g. infrastructure, applications, IT operations, cloud services, end-user computing, enterprise architecture).
    • Experience in planning and implementing IT integration and separation as the result of managed service and IT outsourcing engagements.
    • Industry understanding of the corporate and/or legal IT environments preferred.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including stakeholder presentation.
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
    • Understanding of designing and delivering technology services within a managed service model.
    • Practical experience with client engagement, communications and technical change management.
    • Ability to manage multiple transition engagements in a fast-paced environment.
    • Expected to act with minimum supervision and to deliver to schedule, budget and scope.


    • Preferred location is Chicago however, location flexible for tele-commuting from east coast metropolitan cities.
    • Ability to travel 50 - 75%.
