    HBR Consulting LLC is seeking a Consultant to join our Strategic Sourcing and Business Optimization practice. The Strategic Sourcing & Business Optimization (SSBO) team assists clients in reducing costs across a variety of areas, optimizing business processes and improving stakeholder value.


    As a part of HBR Consulting’s SSBO team, we will rely on you to work closely with project team members and client personnel, facilitating requirements gathering, researching best practices and leveraging internal intellectual property and conducting data analysis to facilitate the implementation of cost savings and process improvement opportunities. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the identified opportunities as well as support practice operations and business development.



    The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in a related IT Category management, Consulting, IT Procurement Operations, IT Strategic Sourcing, IT Contracts Management, Project Management or Process Improvement role, specifically within the IT (hardware, software, services, telecom, SaaS, etc.) space, with breadth and depth of knowledge regarding IT stakeholder/organizational engagement, IT sourcing, IT contracts, and other important IT category management functions.  Analytical experience, ability to lead IT projects and a desire to learn and grow are essential. Additional qualifications will include the following abilities, attributes, experience and skills:

    • Effectively manage Client’s IT procurement and category management and delivery of services including IT contract management, and IT strategic sourcing
    • Establish productive relationships with key IT Client leaders and internal IT customers
    • Knowledge of and insight into IT key objectives and ability to work and think alongside customer to achieve current and future aspirations and successes.
    • Knowledge of influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within/outside organization.
    • Resolve and address any internal / external issues that might arise
    • Promote procurement goals and activities to internal customers (end users, Leadership)
    • Proactively plan for, seek and identify opportunities to expand the scope of procurement’s IT support and planning/execution/implementation activities; develop business cases and strategic implementation plans to support recommendations
    • Oversee the management of and negotiations with IT vendors
    • Manage the RFx process for multiple buyers and IT areas simultaneously
    • Manage client related and internal firm IT projects including deliverables, timelines, etc.
    • Leverage IT experience/expertise to assist with operational assessments
    • Effectively interface with other internal IT Subject Matter Experts, Client IT stakeholders, and client’s IT vendors to drive efficient sourcing and contracting processes
    • Work with contract specialist, General Counsel, IT and Security, and other stakeholders/decisionmakers to lead and manage the IT contract management, review and redline process


    • 5-7+ years in a procurement/category management/sourcing + contracts management role
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of specialized IT end-to-end category management experience
    • Minimum of 2 years project management experience
    • Bachelor's degree is required
    • Experience using e-Procurement systems (Purchasing, Contract Management, etc.)
    • Experience managing and leading IT procurement projects, stakeholders, and IT category management initiatives
    • Self-starter, ability to prioritize in a multi-tasking environment
