  • Overview

    HBR Consulting is seeking a full-time legal assistant to join a new and busy legal department in a 250+ employee consulting and managed services firm. This individual will work under the direction and supervision of the firm’s Legal Counsel, and will report to the firm’s Legal Counsel. The opportunity calls for a person who is dynamic, organized, commercially-minded and motivated and is willing to be involved across broad practice areas. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and detail-oriented, comfortable drafting commercial agreements of varying complexity and negotiating (with minimal supervision), with legal departments of large corporations and law firms.


    • Providing broad support across practice groups by acting as a point of contact for contracts and day-to-day commercial and legal queries
    • Drafting and negotiating contracts (including non-disclosure agreements; master services agreements, consultancy agreements, software and licensing agreements, reseller agreements and various vendor contracts)
    • Assisting the Legal Counsel in formulating policies and procedures for in-house contract review, which may include finalizing templates, preparing presentations and training sessions for an executive audience
    • Providing legal support to Operations teams, including Marketing, Finance and Human Resources / Talent, as necessary
    • Communicating effectively with business leaders varying in seniority, with respect to legal, compliance and commercial matters
    • Assisting the Legal Counsel in implementing inhouse contract management process
    • Providing support to the Legal Counsel in special projects (which may include corporate, regulatory, corporate governance, employment or litigation matters) that may arise in a dynamic and evolving business


    • Bachelor’s degree and several years’ experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
    • JD preferred but not a requirement; consideration will be given to business-minded candidates with substantial experience handling commercial agreements and working with business leaders
    • In-house experience in professional services / advisory field strongly preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong drafting proficiency and ability to identify key issues in contracts, including those that relate to intellectual property, liability and risk allocation
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced, personality-driven environment
    • Have good judgment and the initiative to elevate and flag issues when appropriate
    • Diligent, organized, self-assured and good-humored professional who is comfortable adapting to shifts in priorities in a high-volume business environment
