  • Overview

    The Senior Applications Engineer is a senior role within the applications engineering team. This position requires proficiency in all aspects of Windows desktop and application design, build, implementation, and support. This person will have the opportunity to utilize a variety of next generation end-user computing technologies such as virtual desktops, application layering, and user environment management.  This person will also maintain our current Windows computing environment and participate in duties shared among the application engineering team.  This position is expected to be self-driven and self-sufficient and will work closely with the development teams to provide high-quality business solutions and play an active role in projects from inception to delivery.

    Responsibilities

    Engineer and maintain high-performing and secure virtual and physical Windows desktops, leveraging traditional and next generation desktop delivery, application delivery, and profile management technologies.

    Qualifications

    • Required skills and experience:

      • Extensive experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows 7 and Windows 10
      • Extensive experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting common enterprise applications such as Office, Acrobat, IE, etc.
      • Extensive Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting and a variety of line-of-business applications (experience with legal-specific applications is highly desired)
      • Utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Operation System Deployment (OSD) to deploy and configure Windows 7/10 and applications.
      • Utilize Windows Update Services System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to automate the patching of Windows and other Microsoft products.
      • Utilize System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or similar technology to deploy, configure, and patch Microsoft and third-party applications.
      • Comprehensive understanding of Group Policy, and extensive experience building and troubleshooting Group Policy Objects to configure and secure Windows operating systems and applications.
      • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
      • Ability to mentor and train user support engineers/junior Windows desktop engineers on Windows/application deployment and troubleshooting.
      • Ability to develop an effective relationship with user support engineers, that can be described as trusting, respectful, and communicative, in order to ensure exceptional service delivery to our end-users.

       

      Highly desired skills and experience:

      • Experience with legal specific environment support
      • Experience with Citrix XenDesktop and/or VMware Horizon View virtual desktop platforms
      • Experience with User Environment Management (Profile Management) technologies such as AppSense, RES, or LiquidWare Labs ProfileUnity
      • Experience with application layering technologies such as VMware App Volumes, Liquidware Labs FlexApp or Unidesk
      • Experience with application virtualization technologies such as App-V and ThinApp
