  • Overview

    Perform tasks involved with the day-to-day operations of the HBR Law Department Survey under the guidance of leadership. This position requires the ability to manage numerous administrative tasks as well as extensive communication with external parties. The annual HBR Law Department Survey is a premier publication and benchmarking source for Fortune 500 legal executives. The publication contains comprehensive data and insights on spending, staffing, operations, technology, and compensation for law departments.


    • Coordinate project management activities with leadership (e.g., facilitate meetings with survey team members and marketing department, prepare status reports, update project and communications plan). 
    • Support annual review of survey materials for enhancements to content and prepare survey form and instruction documentation. 
    • Utilize the company CRM system and survey processing SQL database to analyze participation trends and develop distribution lists for email marketing campaigns. 
    • Monitor email communication and record on-going participant interaction in the tracking system.
    • Respond to inquiries from General Counsels, law department operations executives, and other participants in professional written and verbal communications.
    • Make personal phone calls to companies to solicit participation and develop on-going client relationships to support the survey effort. 
    • Review data submissions from participants to identify quality control issue, and contact participants to resolve issues and correct data submissions accordingly. 
    • Work with external programmers to communicate requirements and needed updates to the report templates; generate reports using survey processing system; conduct quality control on reports. 
    • Manage submitted order forms and work with the finance department to handle billing and invoicing processes. 
    • Support efforts to increase awareness of HLDS in the market place in conjunction with the marketing and law department consulting team.

    • Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree with significant work experience; relevant work or internship experience.
    • 1-3 years of experience working in a corporate enviornment cooridnating projects, organizing data and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Highly developed organizational skills and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in accordance with a timeline.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills to handle external inquires and executive-level interactions. Ability to write and speak persuasively.
    • Highly developed attention to detail.
    • Ability to read, and understand common business and financial data and information.
    • Solid analytical and problem solving skills including ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion
    • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and identify next steps.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and to build relationships.
    • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take feedback.
