Overview

HBR Consulting is seeking a Senior Manager for its Law Department Consulting (LDC) - Technology practice.

 

We are seeking someone who has a wide range of technology assessment, design planning and implementation skills. Applicants should have significant experience working with teams, and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. It is important for this individual to thrive in situations that require complex problem-solving and should be able to comfortably communicate with people at all levels within our clients' organizations. The Senior Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects that have significant, transformational impacts.

 

This role requires strong client-facing delivery experience and an aptitude for managing a highly motivated group of consultants and analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for law department technology engagements
  • Responsible for overall project scope and facilitating change control process including the development and management of project plan.
  • Set and lead team goals and objectives based on project plan; manage resources and monitor project progress and performance to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Manage project administration activities such as managing to project scope, managing project budgets, forecasting resourcing, and status reporting both for clients and to internal service line leadership
  • Be directly involved in process mapping, data analysis, drafting of project deliverables.
  • Participate in client presentations and client meetings
  • Work collaboratively with fellow consultants and client teams
  • Manage multiple active projects at the time
  • To help with continual practice improvement by enhancing methodologies, practice aids, project delivery approaches and tools.
  • Promoting business through writing, research and maintaining other publicly facing material, such as marketing collateral.
  • Participate in business development, such as drafting proposals as needed.
  • To develop business opportunities and nurture key client relationships.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant technical and team management experience within a consulting firm, technology vendor, or internal legal operations role
  • Seven or more years of experience delivering projects, including overseeing other resources to the completion of their tasks.
  • Working knowledge of law department technology landscape, including Spend + Matter Management, Document Management, Contracts Lifecycle Management, and eDiscovery
  • Demonstrate knowledge about, and experience in the following areas of focus.
    • IT implementation methodologies, including waterfall, Agile and iterative
    • Legal management software and/or workflow software experience (e.g., matter management, spend management, contract management)
    • Able to elicit requirements from requirements owners and recommend improvements to processes (strong client interview skills are a must)
    • IT Project management, including development and management of project plans using MS Project
    • Understand use cases for document management or content management solutions
    • Familiar with how to configure industry leading ELM/matter management solutions
  • Experience integrating with, and migrating legacy data into, the above legal management software platforms
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry, business and financial data and reports.
  • Ability to distill information into consulting reports that are well organized, clear and comprehensive.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from current and potential clients.
  • Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Possess excellent client-facing communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Ability to manage a project plan to budget.
  • Supervise resources on project deliverables.
  • Exceptional computer skills including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project. High degree of comfort using other Microsoft products (Microsoft Work, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Have permanent US work authorization
  • PMP certification a plus

Travel

  • Willing to travel 50-60%
